Allergic Dermatitis

This is common in both dogs and cats. Allergies cause redness and itching and lead to hair loss.

Cushing’s Disease

When a pet’s adrenal glands create too much cortisone, it results in Cushing’s Disease. Excessive appetite, excessive thirst, hair loss, excessive urination, and lethargy are common symptoms of this disorder. A vet will need to give your pet a urinalysis as well as blood work to diagnose this disease accurately.

Hypothyroidism

The most common hormone issue dogs face is hypothyroidism. Lymphocytic thyroiditis is a common cause of this disorder. Obesity, hair loss, and lethargy are common symptoms that your pet will experience. Both blood tests and thyroid tests are conducted to diagnose it properly.

Allergic dermatitis, arthritis, and even neoplasia can cause lick granuloma in pets. Both stress and boredom may also result in lick granuloma. Excessive licking is normally present in pets with this condition.

Ringworm

This is probably the most common skin condition that pets suffer from. Hair loss and scaly patches will be present in pets that have ringworm. To get a proper diagnosis, tests will need to be conducted.
