One of the most exciting parts of bringing a new puppy or kitten into the family is the fact that they are just getting started on that journey. Everything is new to them and, as their human companion, you get to revel the wonder and joy with which they approach their world.
Because of their very newness, puppies and kittens require special attention and care to ensure that they develop into healthy, vigorous adults. Your first visits to our hospital are perhaps the most important. Not only do these visits give you a much clearer picture of your pet’s bill of health, but they’re also where you, one of our veterinarians, and your pet begin to form a crucial relationship that will last for many years to come.
Puppy and kitten vaccines should begin start at 6-8 weeks. At one year of age, boosters are given for the core vaccines. We believe in a strong core vaccine protocol for young animals and then utilizing a risk-based vaccine protocol as your pet ages.
Because we know how essential these initial visits are, our veterinarians take great care to give your puppy or kitten a thorough examination – which includes detection of potential congenital problems – offer health care and training advice, and talk with you about any concerns you may have. If you bring your new family member to us, you can rest assured that we’ll do everything in our power to put them on the path to life-long health.
